After graduating from USC Film School, Salomon began his career as a documentary film editor on several award-winning PBS Specials.  With a love for music, Salomon soon began editing and post-producing music-oriented Event Programming and television specials for NBC, CBS, HBO, SHOWTIME, VH1, A&E and CMT.  Salomon also lent his editorial talents to well over 200 videos for pop luminaries such as Madonna, Janet Jackson, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Mick Jagger and Whitney Houston.

 

Michael put on his directing cap for the first time to helm Metallica’s classic debut video, “ONE”, which was nominated for an MTV Video Award.  His subsequent concert film for the band became part of “BINGE AND PURGE”,one of the highest selling box sets of all time (15x Platinum).  

 

To his surprise, Nashville took notice and Salomon has enjoyed unparalleled success directing Country music videos and long-form projects with the likes of Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts, Trisha Yearwood, Dixie Chicks and Tim McGraw, plus comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Rodney Carrington.  As a director, Michael has well over 250 music videos under his belt and has created more than a dozen one-hour documentary/performance specials for CMT (Country Music Television).

 

Michael is especially proud of his ongoing decades-long collaborative efforts with megastars Garth Brooks, Toby Keith and Brooks & Dunn, for which he has directed multiple music videos as well as several network Specials for each including, the 2-hour NBC Special “GARTH BROOKS: IRELAND & BACK”, which garnered Salomon an Emmy nomination.  Michael recently directed his first feature film, “BEER FOR MY HORSES”, a comedy written by and starring Toby Keith and featuring Tom Skerritt, Willie Nelson, Gina Gershon and Barry Corbin.

 

In addition to music videos and television specials, Salomon has created a series of spots for FORD, DR. PEPPER, WALMART, MCI and MARY KAYE COSMETICS as well as several music/CD television ads for Garth Brooks and others.  

 

Salomon has been nominated or won over 75 prestigious awards (Emmy, People’s Choice, Billboard, Clio, MTV, CMT, ACM, CMA)…and counting.  

 

With few exceptions, Michael edits and post-produces almost all of the material he creates as a director.
